TRAINING

“It’s never too late to be what you might have been.”

(George Elliot)

LPTI Ongoing Training Cohort

LPTI offers two 9-month closed Psychodrama Training Cohorts comprised of 8-12 members each. The LPTI Training Cohorts are intended primarily for, but not limited to, professionals and students in the mental health and human services fields. Training sessions take place once per month for 9 months. The continuity of meeting as a closed group fosters an environment where members can experiment with psychodrama in many ways according to their learning interests, preferences and needs.

The Introductory Level Training Cohort focuses on essential psychodramatic and sociometric techniques, along with essential theoretical concepts that underlie the method.

The Intermediate Level Training Cohort offers the needed experiential learning and skills development to direct psychodramatic and sociometric action structures.

The training integrates classical psychodrama, sociometry and group psychotherapy with contemporary knowledge from interpersonal neurobiology and attachment theory. In addition, concepts and methods from sensorimotor psychotherapy and mindful hatha yoga are also introduced to complement Moreno’s approach, including his early philosophical and spiritual roots. The result is a theoretically grounded, integrative and holistic model.

Participants at all levels of experience with psychodrama are welcome. LPTI’s core leaning domains of theory, skills development, personal growth and professional application are emphasized.

Cohort members make a commitment to participate in the entire series.

Membership in one of the LPTI Training Cohort is by application and interview only. If interested, contact Cathy for further information and for an application.

The workshop schedule allows for free time to explore the naturally beautiful setting. The retreat center shares 27 acres of property with Ehrhardt Organic Farm, which has been selling high quality, organic berries, vegetables, herbs and flowers to restaurants, at farmer’s markets and thru their CSA since 1981. Education & Training Consultation

Many professionals want to incorporate action methods in settings outside of psychotherapy (e.g., adult education & training, organization development, coaching, and spiritual facilitation) and are not interested in psychodrama certification.

Cathy offers consultation on the design and facilitation of experiential learning in such settings. Recent consultees have received support and coaching on topics such as: team-building with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator; experiential learning activities to improve customer service in a hospital setting; action methods appropriate for spiritual facilitation.

Clinical Supervision

LGPC Supervision

Cathy is a Maryland State-Approved Supervisor for graduate professional counselors. She offers individual and small group supervision. Supervision includes the use of role-play and experiential methods to help newer counselors develop and enhance their clinical skills with a variety of clients.

Psychodrama Certification

Certification is a complex process that usually unfolds over several years. Cathy can help you meet all of the requirements, including the supervision requirement, as delineated by the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy.

Please go to www.psychodramacertification.org  to learn more about becoming a certified psychodramatist.

LPTI offers a suite of tools to help you track and document the required training and supervision hours for certification.

These training hours may be counted towards the Certified Practitioner in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy certification, C.P. credential, as approved by the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy.

Catherine D. Nugent is an Approved Provider of Continuing Education with the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners and certifies that this program meets the criteria up to 7.0 credit hours of Category I continuing education for social workers in Maryland.

Laurel Psychodrama Training Institute has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider with the National Board for Certified Counselors (AEP # 6788) and certifies that this program meets the criteria for up to 7.0 hours of continuing education for counselors.
